The Moser M9 Full Floater Drag Housing – Ready for Battle!

Quick Overview

The Floater Rear End is becoming a necessity for today's big MPH cars. NHRA mandates that vehicles traveling faster than 6.50 or 210 MPH in the 1/4 mile are required to run a "Floater or Live Axle" Rear End.

A Back Brace is required for these applications.
The new M9 Drag housings are made from 1/8” thick laser cut chrome-moly. What differentiates the M9 Drag housing from others brands available is the fact the Moser M9 Drag is fabricated from one triangulated piece of chrome-moly. This helps reduce deflection caused from torsional force at launch, which helps with a straighter and more consistent launch. Other standard strengthening components added to the Moser M9 Drag housing include internal gussets and bulk heads, and a 3/8” thick chrome-moly face plate. Also included are custom machined fill and drain vent, stud kit, and installed housing ends. Don’t settle for weak racing rear ends. Upgrade to the best!

A full floater axle is a double splined non-flanged axle shaft with splines on both ends. The rear housing end has hubs on the end where the bearings are installed and a drive flange where the studs are installed, not on the axles like a standard rear end. This assembly takes pressure off the axle bearing journal surface and axle flange, creating a much stronger axle.

Installation instructions

Moser has changed their website to reflect the Motul gear oil as their recommended fluid for all gear type LSD’s (this includes Truetrac’s). Gear type units require friction to work properly. Most aftermarket oils have additives that helps to alleviate heat, wear and prolong life. In doing so these additives minimize friction causing gear driven units to be less efficient and sometimes fail completely.
