The Trac-Loc Limited Slip was originally used by Ford in many of their vehicles.  It is available from Moser for their 28 and 31 spline axles.  It is a very good differential to up to 500 RWHP, and is rebuildable.  The Trac-Loc Limited Slip Differential is designed as a direct replacement for the hard to find expensive OEM unit, or for those enthusiasts desiring to convert to a limited slip.  Available for 9 Ford rear ends, this nodular steel casting is totally rebuildable, includes nickel steel side gears and pinion gears, and multiple plate 360-degree steel clutches.  This extremely tough and durable differential houses 400-ft/lb static springs, and is capable of 150 lb. braking torque.  Available in 28 or 31 spline.  Made in the U.S.A.

1992 - 2002 Camaro and Firebird (F Body) Moser 9 Inch Rearend with Truetrac Limited Slip and 31 or 35 spline axles.

The Detroit Truetrac is the first gear type limited slip differential in the industry.  It's patented design of parallel axis planetary helical gears provide a quiet, automatic splitting of torque.  Power transfer goes literally unnoticed by the driver – even in front wheel drive axles.  The Detroit Truetrac performs like an open differential under normal driving conditions and automatically transfers torque to the wheel with better traction when ground conditions warrant.  The limited slip responds instantly to torque feedback, anytime, at any speed. Available for 12 Bolt Chevy cars, Ford 8.8 rear ends, and Ford 9 applications, the Detroit Truetrac’s proven design, low cost and effective performance make it the choice of off-road, street, and strip enthusiasts everywhere.

Includes 9 in. Center Section, Housing, M/E Custom Alloy Axles, wheel bearings, wheel studs, retainer plates, Pro Street gears, 1350 series pinion yoke, torque arm bracket and nodular iron case.  It basically includes everything you need, ready to bolt-on.  You will need a one inch longer driveshaft, gear oil and vacuum line for the breather.

1992 - 2002 Camaro and Firebird (F Body) Moser 9 Inch Rearend with Locker and 35 spline axles.

I only recommend lockers for vehicles equipped with an automatic. When a rear has a locker, the driveshaft normally has around half a rotation of play in it. This can play havoc with the synchros in a manual transmission unless driven only at wide open throttle.

The Detroit Locker shown below is a very strong differential that can handle a lot of power.  It is available from Moser for their 28, 31 and 35 spline axles.  It can be a bear to get use to, as it doesn't always unlock each axle at the same time when you let off the gas.  This can cause the back of the car to wiggle around, and many people can't stand it. The locker will give the driveshaft more play that what most differentials will, which is inherit with the locker.  This play can cause those with manual transmissions to encounter problems shifting at part throttle.  At full throttle it is not a problem.  Something else I should mention, as it happened to us at the starting line at last years LSX Shootout, you have to make sure the locker is engaged at the starting line.  A short dry hop after the water burnout will engage the locker.  If you don't do the dry hop, the car may break on the starting line and never move an inch.  This happened to us...  I have had several people who had manual transmissions that had trouble shifting at part throttle speeds after they installed a rear with a locker. Basically with a locker the driveshaft will have more play in it which can cause the problem. At wide open throttle the problem goes away. Many people have lockers and manual transmissions without having shifting problems, so it is an intermittent problem. Moser Engineering carries a full line of Detroit Lockers to fit most popular rear ends used on the street, off-road, or on the racetrack.  Detroit Lockers are fully automatic locking traction differentials, manufactured by Tractech, a well-known manufacturer of heavy-duty traction differentials for OEM and replacement applications.  A Detroit Locker maximizes the available traction by delivering 100% of the torque and power to both drive wheels.  It is engineered to keep both wheels in a constant drive mode, yet has the ability to unlock, to permit the wheel to turn at different speeds if necessary.

3rd Gen Owners (1982-1992)

You won't be able to reuse your factory 3rd gen brakes with a Moser rear end. You will either have to use GM 4th gen brakes, Moser's brake option that is available here down in the option list, or other aftermarket brakes.

Moser Engineering builds the strongest center sections available in the marketplace. Moser gives you many options from a Moser Stock Case to an Aluminum Thru-bolt design all the way up to our Strongest Nodular case that can handle it all. Build the Center Section that you need and get that power to the ground. All our cases are good for street and or strip use.

 Moser's Custom built 9", 9 1/2" & 10" FORD Center Sections are completely assembled and shipped in a specially designed plastic case. Solid Pinion Shims are used instead of the weaker crush sleeves. All units are assembled with special calibrated "Torque Guns", which means no impact guns that will hammer and flat spot bearings and no guessing on your pinion nut torque setting! Each pinion is specifically torqued to the gear manufactures stated setting.

All Center Sections are assembled with the following Moser Engineering designed and manufactured in the USA components;
  • Cases
  • Pinion Supports
  • Pinion Yokes
  • Spools
Items that are part of the Center Section that are assembled but sourced from an outside supplier which may or may not be made is the USA;
  • Bearings & Seals
  • Fasteners (all grade 8)
  • Limited Slip Differentials
  • Ring & Pinions (Gears) - Moser Engineering does not manufacture any gears! These are sourced but not limited to the following suppliers; US Gear, Hoosier Gear, Motive/Richmond Gear & Yukon Gear
  • Stealth Series US Gear; "We set out to develop the next generation of aftermarket Ford 9" gears starting with a brand new design and utilizing the best manufacturing processes. Our new 9" Ford STEALTH® Series gears utilize the most advanced gear cutting technology, known as face hobbing. It's a different gear cutting method that creates a continuous and more consistent cut on all teeth of the ring and pinion at the same time. The heel and toe of each gear tooth are now the same height, which helps create a consistent pattern and improves the tooth to tooth contact."

**Light Weight Aluminum Spools and Pinion Yokes are designed to be used in light weight racing applications (<2000 lbs.) only! These items also are considered wear items and should be monitored and replaced periodically.

*This item will ship two business days after online transaction is completed unless you have requested powder coating this service will add an 2 - 3 days to the process.

NOTE: for 35 & 40 Spline Steel Spool applications, if you are replacing a Mark Williams or other manufactures spool check your spline location! The Moser Standard Steel Spools have splines are located inboard not out under the bearings like Mark Williams and other manufactures, your passenger side axle will be too short and not engage the spool. Please select "Pro Steel 40 Spline Spool" at the bottom of the "Differential Options" if you have determined you have a 40 spline spool that fits this criteria.

Free Shipping!   Rears are shipped just two days after the rear is ordered! Please allow two extra days if you order the rear with the optional powdercoating.
