The Most Power and Best Performance
Intercooled ProCharger systems deliver the ultimate performance and power increase for towing, daily driving and sport truck applications. Compared to all bolt-on aftermarket superchargers, ATI's superior technology delivers more low-end torque and substantially more total power than any other supercharger system. In the lower rpm towing range, Intercooled ProCharger systems will deliver more rear-wheel torque because the intercooled charge air is extremely dense (virtually at ambient temperature), the engine is running full timing, and the P-1SC consumes far less power than positive displacement superchargers. At mid-range and higher rpm, in addition to making more power per pound of boost (due to the same combination of greater air density, full timing and less parasitic load), an Intercooled ProCharger system is also able to safely produce more total boost, thanks to the coolest charge air and exhaust gas temperatures in the industry. The net effect is a substantially larger increase in air density, which in turn produces a substantially larger increase in power. History and physics show that applications without intercooling must run unsafe boost levels or octane-boosted fuel to perform even close to an Intercooled ProCharger system.

Superior Efficiency and Fuel Economy Intercooled ProCharger supercharger systems enable your truck or sport utility to deliver unparalleled performance without sacrificing daily drivability or gas mileage. In fact, unlike inefficient positive displacement superchargers, in most towing applications your gas mileage may actually increase slightly thanks to the superior efficiency of the P-1SC ProCharger. Stock or modified, for towing, daily driving, or racing, Intercooled ProCharger systems deliver far more performance with far greater engine reliability than any other supercharger system or power adder such as nitrous oxide.

The Best Engine Reliability and Drivability
ATI introduced the industry's first intercooled supercharger system nearly 3 years before its nearest competitor, and is the only company that offers air-to-air intercooled supercharger systems for trucks and SUV's. Other companies' non-intercooled and air-to water supercharger systems are typically tuned at the edge of detonation, which leaves you little margin for error. However, because air-to air intercooling removes the heat which causes detonation, you can safely run far more engine-friendly intercooled boost with full timing and complete peace of mind. With air-to-air intercooling, there is no need for "band aids" such as ignition retard, over-rich or auxiliary fuel injectors, or water injection. There is also no need to buy exhaust gas temperature (EGT) gauges because intercooling means that exhaust and overall engine temperatures remain stable even during extreme towing, racing and/or summer heat conditions. The intercooler system, which is standard equipment, simply rejects far more heat than it will receive from the highly efficient P-1SC ProCharger. Intercooling is clearly the fundamental solution for reliable high performance, because it substantially improves both engine reliability and power output. That is why intercooled forced induction is the high performance technology of choice for millions of factory OEM vehicles worldwide.

With the engine built to be blown, our low-compression 540 made 507 hp at 4,800 rpm and 606 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm. Fully intercooled and boost set on kill, those numbers jumped to 913 hp at 5,800 rpm, with 903 lb-ft of torque at 4,800. The difference with the ATI ProCharger is huge, to say the least. Those numbers represent an increase of a solid 80 percent in horsepower and 49 percent in torque. That’s a ridiculous increase that would make your “seat of the pants” feel like a NASA space shutte launch!

“When put into the [supercharger] system, an intercooler brings the air temp back down, thus increasing its density and removing the need to retard the timing. Reliable power gains go from 25-45 percent with a supercharger alone to 60-75* percent with an intercooler.”

“Any time that you compress air, like with a supercharger, that creates heat, and heat is the enemy of horsepower. An air-to-air intercooler takes that hot blast of air and cools it down. This [Intercooled ProCharger system] will give you a 65% increase in power [with 8.5 psi]. That’s more than any other supercharger on the market.”

"Compressed air gets hot, but diverting it through the intercooler cools it down before it gets to the throttle-body."

"A [chassis] dyno run demonstrated a maximum of 377.8 rwhp and 357.9 lb-ft of torque." (66% power gain, stock '02 5.3L Tahoe)

“These intercooled ProCharger systems provide reliable 60-90 percent gains* in horsepower and torque on pump gas, with significantly better engine reliability than is possible when supercharging without an intercooler.”

"The mildly modded 5.4 (2004 3V) received a ProCharger P-1SC centrifugal supercharger along with its air-to-air intercooler. The GMS crew reflashed the computer with Superchips Custom Tuning software, and the 5.4-liter SOHC motor now makes 420 rwhp and 410 lb-ft of torque."

“The driveability of the system was tested when we loaded down the truck with a 7,000-pound boat and trailer and a bed full of weekend boating gear, and traveled a couple of hundred miles over hilly highway toward The Lake of the Ozarks in humid 85-degree weather. Even under boost conditions, as the truck effortlessly pulled the weight up long hills for long periods of time, the engine’s coolant temperature never surpassed normal operating temperatures.” “Because of the extraordinary efficiency of both the ProCharger and intercooler systems, intercooled ProCharger systems feature the coolest intake temperature of any supercharger.”

“Intercooled supercharging results in less stress on engine parts, lower engine temperatures, and better fuel mileage.”

By using an air-to-air system, more boost can be applied to the motor without fear of detonation or the need for added fuel enrichment systems or ignition retarding.”

“In addition to denser air and full ignition timing, there is considerably less parasitic loss...”

“What cuts down on a charger’s efficiency is a byproduct of compressing air - heat. When the air is compressed, it gets hotter. And the hotter it gets the less dense it becomes. You will still see power gains but the ignition timing has to be pulled back about 1 degree per pound of boost to keep the engine from detonating or pinging.”

“The intercooler (like a radiator for the air) brings the temp back down to around 20 degrees above the outside air temp.”

“That’s a 2.33-second gain in the quarter-mile [with a stock 5.7 TBI] on pump fuel without sacrificing any driveability.”

    Fuel Mileage and ProCharger…WHAT?!

A supercharger will decrease the fuel economy of your vehicle, right? WRONG!!

Although roots superchargers have significant parasitic load and do dramatically decrease fuel economy, centrifugal superchargers (like ProCharger) will yield approximately the same fuel economy as normally aspirated engines under normal throttle conditions. This means that after the installation of a ProCharger intercooled supercharger system, if you drive your vehicle in the same manner as you did before the installation, you should see no drop in fuel economy and in some cases customers with heavier vehicles have actually increased their fuel economy because of less frequent downshifts! However, the purpose of the supercharger is to get more air into the engine…and when you add air you must add fuel. So when you stand on the throttle and that impeller starts force-feeding your motor the air it deserves, your fuel system will allow more fuel in to create gobs of Grandma scaring horsepower. It is during those moments when supercharged vehicles see a drop in fuel economy.

To explain further, a supercharged engine operates at a much higher power and efficiency level than a naturally aspirated engine. So why, under normal operating conditions, would making an engine more efficient decrease fuel economy?

ProCharger has a large and ever changing fleet of test vehicles running the streets and race tracks every year. We use these vehicles to test everything you would expect from a company like ProCharger…durability, aesthetics, noise, drivability, power. What you may not expect is that we also collect fuel mileage data on these test mules. A small snapshot of some of our data is below.

As you can imagine, fuel mileage was not the main concern of our drivers when cruising along side the amazing cars that grace the Power Tour. The Dodge Charger fuel mileage was recorded on a recent roundtrip from Kansas City to Tampa, FL. Also, keep in mind that the above vehicles are all stock with the exception of the intercooled ProCharger system. Your fuel mileage may vary depending on your vehicle combination and driving habits.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado customer testimonial after the installation of a P-1SC-1 Intercooled ProCharger system.

“My gas mileage has increased nearly 1 mpg on my annual trip from Michigan to Alabama, from 16.19 mpg naturally aspirated to 17.06 mpg with the ProCharger. Considering these trips are taken during Christmas in the winter with periods of idle time and speeds with the flow of traffic the ProCharger actually helps gas mileage. Add the extra on demand power and the smiles per gallon, the truck makes the trips fun!”

2006 Hemi Ram customer testimonial after the installation of a P-1SC-1 Intercooled ProCharger system.

“I’ve got 34K miles on the supercharger system in the past 9 months, and it’s great. I pass other trucks on hills all the time while towing Bobcats and other heavy loads. And my fuel economy is about the same as it was before, but with a lot more power.”
